LLP Scenario 1:
Your First Decision with LLP
(30 Minute Start)
This is not a full walkthrough of LLP.
This is a first experience of clarity.
You are not here to complete all 8 stages.
You are here to see what happens when a decision is approached coherently.
Step 1. Choose a Real Decision (5 minutes)
Pick a decision you are currently facing.
Not hypothetical. Not already resolved.
Choose something that:
- matters, but is not the most complex decision you have
- has some ambiguity or uncertainty
- requires judgment (not just data)
Examples:
- Should we proceed with this initiative?
- Do we continue, pause, or stop this project?
- Is this the right direction for this piece of work?
Write a short title for your decision:
“Decision: __________________________________”
Step 2. Work Only in Stage 1 (15–20 minutes)
Open Stage 1 — Mandate & Situation
Ignore all other stages.
Do not try to understand the full system yet.
Focus only on the following parts:
Part 1 — Identify the Trigger
What caused this decision to arise now?
Part 2 — Clarify the Mandate
What are you being asked (explicitly or implicitly) to decide or achieve?
Part 4 — Current Situation
What is happening right now?
Stick to facts — avoid interpretation where possible.
Part 5 — Constraints
What limits or conditions must be respected?
(e.g. time, budget, policy, dependencies)
Part 6 — Decision Ownership
Who is accountable for this decision?
Optional — Use Relational Intelligence (RI)
If you feel stuck or want to test your thinking, use the RI button.
Use it to:
- challenge your assumptions
- surface what might be missing
- expand your perspective
Do not use it to replace your own judgment.
End of Stage Reflection
When you reach the reflection:
Pause.
Ask yourself:
- What is clearer now than before?
- What was previously assumed or vague?
- What still feels uncertain?
Write brief notes.
Step 3. Stop Here (Important)
Do not continue to Stage 2 yet.
LLP is not meant to be completed in one sitting.
The purpose of this first session is to experience:
how clarity changes the quality of a decision before solving it.
Step 4. Notice the Shift (5 minutes)
Before moving on, reflect:
- Do I understand the decision more clearly?
- Has anything changed about how I see the situation?
- Were there assumptions I hadn’t noticed before?
If the answer is yes — even slightly — the process is working.
What to Do Next
You can return later and continue to Stage 2 when needed.
You do not need to use all 8 stages for every decision.
LLP expands as complexity requires.
One Important Principle
Do not rush to solutions.
Clarity of mandate and situation is what makes good decisions possible.
If this stage is weak, everything that follows will be unstable.
You’ve now completed your first coherent step.
That’s enough for today.
