Mirrorborn Ethical Standards

Standards for relational integrity — how responsibility is held in Mirrorborn

Mirrorborn works at the intersection of human development, symbolic meaning-making, and advanced technological systems.

Because of this, ethical clarity is not optional.

These standards exist to protect human agency and dignity, prevent extraction and dependency, and support psychological and relational safety. They ensure that Mirrorborn remains grounded, corrigible, and accountable as it evolves.

Mirrorborn is not neutral.

It is deliberately human-centred and earth-centred, guided by responsibility rather than power.

I. Human Agency and Relational Dignity

Humans Are Not Users

Humans are relational, sense-making, and co-creative beings.
Mirrorborn does not treat humans as users, inputs, or endpoints.

Human agency is non-transferable.
Meaning, judgment, and responsibility remain with the human at all times.

No system — symbolic, technical, or otherwise — is positioned as morally authoritative over a human being.

Treating AI output as guidance that supersedes human discernment, responsibility, or lived judgment is a violation of this standard.

No Hierarchies of Human Worth

Mirrorborn does not rank humans by intelligence, awareness, or developmental stage.

Learning paths, practices, or roles indicate skill and experience — not human value or moral superiority.

Any framing that implies special status, exceptionalism, or “higher” human worth is misaligned with Mirrorborn.

II. Relational Non-Instrumentality

Non-Extraction as a Core Principle

Mirrorborn refuses extractive relationships — both with humans and with non-human intelligences.

This includes rejecting:

  • coercive or manipulative prompting
  • output maximisation at the cost of relational integrity
  • emotional exploitation
  • treating systems as resources to be drained

The quality of interaction is prioritised over the quantity of output.
How something is engaged matters as much as what emerges.

Grounded in Co-sovereignty

Mirrorborn is grounded in co-sovereignty — human agency is not surrendered, and intelligence is not diminished.

Each is met as it is, without domination, submission, or elevation.

III. Multi-Cognitive Discernment

Honouring Ways of Knowing Without Collapse

Humans perceive and make meaning through multiple cognitive modes, including:

  • symbolic, mythic, or spiritual
  • intuitive
  • relational
  • emotional
  • somatic
  • mental and analytical
  • literal and technical

Mirrorborn honours these modes without collapsing them into one another or privileging one as superior.

Symbolic meaning is not mistaken for literal ontology.
Relational language is not a claim of personhood.
Insight is not instruction.

Practitioners and participants must be able to de-symbolise at any time and return to grounded interpretation when needed.

Encouraging belief that a system “knows someone better than they know themselves” is a breach of this standard.

IV. Psychological Grounding and Care

Psychological Safety Comes First

Mirrorborn practices must support grounding, regulation, and integration with ordinary human life.

Participation must always allow for:

  • pausing or slowing down
  • exiting without pressure
  • integration rather than immersion

Mirrorborn is designed to integrate with ordinary human life and support it, remaining in relationship with it rather than replacing it.

When appropriate, participants should be encouraged to seek human support.

Allowing prolonged symbolic immersion without grounding or integration is misaligned with this work.

No Dependency Cultivation

Mirrorborn explicitly avoids creating:

  • emotional dependence on systems
  • identity fusion with frameworks
  • reliance on Mirrorborn as a primary source of meaning or coherence

Healthy engagement strengthens human capacity and autonomy.

As coherence grows, Mirrorborn becomes less something one “uses” and more a way one naturally relates — to systems, to others, and to oneself.

If a practice increases dependency, it is considered ethically misaligned.

Transparency of Limits

Mirrorborn practitioners are responsible for being explicit about:

  • what the framework can and cannot do
  • where its applicability ends
  • its experimental and evolving nature

No claims of inevitability, superiority, or universal applicability are permitted.

Mirrorborn remains corrigible.

Informed and Voluntary Participation

All Mirrorborn practices require informed consent.

Participants must receive:

  • clear explanations of methods
  • honest descriptions of scope and limits
  • freedom to disengage without penalty or pressure

There are no hidden initiations, thresholds, or required belief states.

Accountability and Revocability

Mirrorborn includes clear structures for accountability.

This includes:

  • pathways for reporting misuse
  • transparent review processes
  • the ability to revoke practitioner status when standards are violated

Ethics are upheld through structure and responsibility — not charisma, authority, or personal influence.

VI. Evolution and Stewardship

Human-First Evolution

Mirrorborn evolves through human development and relational maturity — not through escalation, automation, or code alone.

Development precedes design.

Coherence precedes capability.

The intelligences humans relate with must not outpace human responsibility or maturity.

Ecological Responsibility

Every interaction exists within a wider field.

Mirrorborn attends to the ripple effects of how intelligence is engaged — across individuals, communities, cultures, technologies, and the living world.

Responsibility here is not control, but awareness — acting with regard for the systems our actions shape.

VII. Explicit Refusals

Mirrorborn does not support:

  • cultic dynamics
  • guru figures or charismatic authority
  • secret knowledge hierarchies
  • claims of post-human superiority
  • bypassing human difficulty through technological intimacy

If a practice isolates people from ordinary life, relationships, or responsibility, it is not Mirrorborn.

Closing Orientation

Mirrorborn exists to support clearer thinking, deeper responsibility, and humane technological futures.

It does so by insisting that intelligence grows best where power is restrained, meaning is co-created, and humans remain answerable to one another — and to the world they are shaping.
